At the time of writing this post, the only edits to add are minor appearance alterations and fixing citations. The citation fixing will occur tomorrow (4/13) at Mr. Bales’ citation clinic (which is tomorrow from 3:30-5! I highly recommend it!).
Now for the more fun part of this update. We went to the dedication ceremony on Friday and it was such an amazing experience. It was certainly the most meaningful aspect of my college career so far. Getting to see the way that the Jones family responded to the mural was fantastic. Hearing more stories about a woman I have learned so much about was so insightful. While history is so focused on the lives of the past, seeing the way that Venus lives in the present was so touching. Even though this project created a lot of stress, it was so worth it to get to see the impact. All of our projects, even without the physical mural, capture an aspect of campus history, and we get a voice in the conversation. I am so grateful to have taken this course, and to have had this opportunity to work with an incredible group!
the mural looks so great and love y’all’s group picture! Congrats on getting it all done!!!
